With low unemployment, a mining boom in full swing and interest rates remaining relatively steady (and historically low), why can’t Australian consumers seem to get out of the doldrums post GFC? On the surface it doesn’t make sense: the good news story about our economy (relative to places like US and Greece) isn’t able to lift our confidence about spending money.  What’s going on?
